Recent cheating at International Chess Events dictates that we exercise prudence and careful adherence to many rules. No players will be allowed to have cell phones, pagers, pda’s, or any electronic devices with them nor have any access to such devices during their games. Players will not be allowed to leave the playing area during their games, without special authorization of the Organizers, which will not normally be given, including smoke breaks. Washrooms, coffee and water will be available within the designated playing area. Spectators will not be allowed in the playing area, and no communication except to your opponent and Event Organizers will be permitted during your games. Your co-operation is this regard will be greatly appreciated.
Each player will be provided with a Monroi device for their use during this event. When your game is over and your recorded game is completed, your Monroi device can be used in the nearby lounge to watch any ongoing game live. In addition, after all games are completed your SD disk will be immediately updated to contain all tournament games played. These games will also be uploaded on the website for you to download to personal computers if desired. This information can assist you to prepare for further tournament games.
Following this Players’ Meeting, all players will have their photograph taken and will be trained on using the Monroi recording devices. (I personally used this device at the Canadian Open, and in one minute I was able to use it well.) Please dress accordingly as these pictures will be broadcast live with your games, and will be printed in your event books.
