This is from the latest New in Chess magazine:
"At the European Union Chess Championship held in European Cultural Capital Cork, Ireland, British IM David Howell had little patience with a decision of the organizing committee. At the closing ceremony a special 'junior' prize was awarded to 17-year-old Daan Brandenburg from the Netherlands. Howell, who is only 14, was puzzled why he had not received the 175 euro bonus and approached the tournament director in the bar of the hotel. The explanation that the prize was not for titleholders was, apparently, highly unsatisfactory. Howell took a swing and knocked the tournament director unconscious."

This was the first I had heard of this incident. In my years with chess, I have only seen one fistfight. It was caused by a player reneging on a prearranged result.

Hé... l'âge peut expliquer certaines affaires, mais il a besoin de leçons de savoir vivre le jeune avant de rentrer dans le monde adulte. Mais que voulez-vous, quand on est mineur on en fait tous des conneries.

En général: 21 ans est l'âge pour être considéré adulte. Le 18 ans c'est pour avoir accès aux bars, cigarettes, alcools, loterie.
